Pollster's general comment about their poll:
I try to vote with my eyes, not a formula. Mostly I have a handful of rules I try to use when voting. 1) Conference wins, especially on the road, never count against a team. Even if Alabama only beats Vanderbilt by one in Nashville, that's a W. 2) If a team that is in my poll beats another team in my poll, that week they'll probably have a better ranking. That might not last beyond a week depending on what happens, but it just makes sense. 3) My No. 1 will not change without that team losing. When you're the top team in the country, you get everyone's best shot, and close wins might not reflect a weakness on your part. 4) Conference title standings matter. As we get later in the year, teams that have 1 loss but are in the hunt for a major conference title will likely get the poll spots ahead of 1-loss teams that are second in their division. Winning the conference is every team's goal, and not hitting that goal should mean something.
