I, mbrooks415, have 4 weeks of polls and hereby request to become an official pollster.

Vote Yes or No above. If you vote No above, you should post why below.

I base my balloting primarily on head to head results, won-loss records, and strength of schedule. I do not use formulas or computer-based rankings of any kind. If I feel that my #1 team could beat my #2 on a neutral field under normal circumstances, my #2 could beat my #3, etc., then I'm happy with my poll for the week.

Bias disclosure (not that it reflects in my rankings): I'm a Texas Longhorn fan, will generally root for Texas teams when they aren't playing UT, and--especially after yesterday--hope that Bob Stoops will soon utilize the Bobby Petrino method of leaving his current employer by taking his mistress on a motorcycle ride and lying to his AD about it. Or just retire or go try to save the Jacksonville Jaguars or something.

I will happily answer any questions about my previous ballots.

One question, and this is not necessarily a no vote provided I get a sufficient explanation - why do you have 3-3 Arkansas at #17? And how did they go from unranked up to #17 after a loss?

Arkansas lost to teams I have ranked at #6, #7, and #10. Their losses to A&M and Alabama were by a combined eight points. I thought their close loss to the Aggies in Arlington was a fluke, but their performance against Alabama convinced me otherwise--that they're a top 20 caliber team who stumbled out of the gate, took care of business against three over matched teams, and went toe to toe against two of the nation's best. They'd be 5-1 or 6-0 in just about any other conference/division out there.

Georgia's opponents have gone a combined 17-20 so far this year. The Gophers' win over FCS Eastern Illinois is pretty worthless, so let's give them an arbitrary record of 0-6. That puts Minnesota's opponents at a combined record of 16-20. Pretty close. But here's where I see the difference between these teams:

Minnesota's leading rusher is ninth in the country in rushing yards. Georgia's leading rusher may never play a down of college football again. Until Georgia plays against and fares well against some heavyweights without Todd Gurley, all they have that Minnesota doesn't is a high preseason ranking and a good SID department.
