Hello, and welcome to the 2017 College Football 64-team playoff bracket announcement, presented by the NCAA and their corporate sponsor EA Sports.

First, a thank you to all the voters who helped determine which 64 teams made the field and their seeds.

Without further ado, the 1 seeds:

The overall #1 seed are the Oklahoma Sooners at 12-1. They were champions of the Big 12. They'll be placed in the Central Region, which will play its regional final at the Superdome in New Orleans, Lousiana.

Moving to the right side of the bracket, the 2nd overall seed is the Clemson Tigers, also 12-1 and champions of the ACC. They'll play in the East Region, which will hold its regional final at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

On the same side of the bracket, the 3rd overall seed are the Georgia Bulldogs, also 12-1 and champions of the SEC. They'll move over to the Mountain Region, and that regional final will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

And the final #1 seed is the Alabama Crimson Tide, who finished 11-1 after their loss in the Iron Bowl. They'll be on the left side of the bracket in the West Region, which will conclude at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

The four regional winners will meet at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena at the Final Four to determine the 2017 December Delirium winner.

Starting at the top left of the bracket, with the Central Region
Games in Kansas City, MO:
1 Oklahoma vs. 16 Ohio
8 San Diego State vs. 9 South Carolina
These games at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum:
4 Stanford vs. 13 Army
5 Louisiana State vs. 12 Purdue
Moving to the bottom half of the region, games at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City:
3 Auburn vs. 14 UCLA
6 Washington State vs. 11 Texas
Finally, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ:
2 Penn State vs. 15 Texas Tech
7 Louisville vs. 10 Troy

Staying on the left side of the bracket, the West Region
Games at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay:
1 Alabama vs. 16 Georgia Tech
8 Iowa vs. 9 West Virginia
Games back in Denver:
4 Texas Christian vs. 13 Northern Illinois
5 Virginia Tech vs. 12 Missouri
The bottom half of the West Region, in Los Angeles:
3 Washington vs. 14 Duke
6 North Carolina State vs. 11 Kansas State
And games at Ford Field, in Detroit:
2 Ohio State vs. 15 Southern Methodist
7 South Florida vs. 10 Wake Forest

Moving over to the top right of the bracket, the East Region
Games in Atlanta:
1 Clemson vs. 16 Central Michigan
8 Iowa State vs. 9 Florida Atlantic
In East Rutherford, NJ:
4 Notre Dame vs. 13 Arizona
5 Memphis vs. 12 Florida State
The bottom half of the East Region in San Antonio:
3 Southern California vs. 14 Navy
6 Michigan vs. 11 Texas A&M
Finally, in Tampa:
2 Central Florida vs. 15 North Texas
7 Mississippi State vs. 10 Fresno State

Finally, the Mountain Region
Games in Atlanta:
1 Georgia vs. 16 Southern Mississippi
8 Toledo vs. 9 Boston College
Games back in Denver:
4 Oklahoma State vs. 13 Kentucky
5 Northwestern vs. 12 Houston
Games in the Alamo Dome:
3 Miami Florida vs. 14 Utah
6 Michigan State vs. 11 Oregon
And last, games in Detroit:
2 Wisconsin vs. 15 Appalachian State
7 Boise State vs. 10 Arizona State

Some notes:
The only 2 power conference schools with 6 wins to be left out were Virginia and Mississippi. Ohio was the final team in, the first out was Alabama Birmingham, followed by Florida International and Wyoming.

Georgia Tech is the 8th team with a losing record to make it all-time.

83 teams overall received votes, and 43 were voted in unanimously.

Only Georgia was voted a 1-seed by every voter, which means in the old system, they'd have been the overall #1.

Some potential 2nd round conference games or re-matches:
11 Oregon vs. 14 Utah
6 North Carolina State vs. 14 Duke
6 Washington State vs. 14 UCLA

For those of you who like to fill out the bracket and have a competition, I tentatively expect to simulate the 1st round Thursday or Friday.

It was fun to compare the official bracket to mine. However, I noticed:

I take it Notre Dame is actually playing Arizona?

61 of my 64 got in, so it was pretty aligned with the group. I had Ole Miss as a 12-seed so I definitely think they should have made it - their win over Miss St clinched a spot imo (plus they won @ Kentucky). I had Virginia as a 14 so that's not as bad - they're definitely one of the worst bowl eligible Power 5 teams, though they did win @ Boise and they have the head-to-head (albeit at home) over Georgia Tech and Duke. Lastly I had Akron as my last team in, who did win their (bad) division, but it's probably more fair that App St got in and not them, since App St actually won a share of their conference title.

If Michigan actually had to play Texas A&M in Texas, I think they'd probably lose. I have Michigan 28th and A&M 29th overall, but with home-ish field and our wildly inconsistent (usually bad) quarterback play, I'd give it to the Aggies. Our real-life match-up with South Carolina is probably easier.

Shall we watch for the 5/12 upsets?

I only had 56 of 64 as the following didn't make the cut
FL International
Colorado State
Wyoming
UAB
Marshall
Arkansas State
UTSA
New Mexico State-only because it's been so stinkin' long
And who I didn't pick
UCLA
Texas
Texas Tech
GA Tech
Duke
Florida State(I'm an FSU fan but just couldn't do it)
North Texas
Utah

You ever think of pitching this idea to the NCAA?

Oklahoma over Clemson for the title.

My biggest upsets are two 11's over 6's (Kansas St over NC State and Texas A&M over Michigan), and 6-seeded Michigan St to the Elite 8. My Final Four is three 1's (Oklahoma, Clemson, Georgia) and a 2 (Ohio St).

The whole left side of the bracket went according to my end of the season rankings - I should have just gone off that verbatim and not picked San Diego St. Still, 15/16 there. Did not see the Arizona & Florida St upsets coming at all. The Arizona win is definitely plausible - they can really score and outpaced Washington St, plus Notre Dame finished the regular season poorly. Wouldn't think Florida St could beat Memphis but who knows (I do think Iowa St will beat them IRL). Also had Michigan one spot above A&M in my rankings, but thought home-ish field would give the Aggies the edge. Wolfpack & I each only lost 1 Sweet 16 team, from the 12 & 13 advancing.
