Hello, and welcome to the 2016 College Football 64-team playoff bracket announcement, presented by the NCAA and their corporate sponsor EA Sports.

First, a thank you to all the voters who helped determine which 64 teams made the field and their seeds.

8 pre-determined locations will host the 1st and 2nd round games before the remaining 16 teams will move on to the various regional final locations, which are the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Each regional winner will advance to the Final Four, which is at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona

Without further ado, the #1 seeds. The overall #1 seed are the 13-0 Alabama Crimson Tide, Champions of the SEC. They will play in the Central Region. Moving over to the right side of the bracket, the overall #2 seed, the Clemson Tigers, who are 12-1, and winners of the ACC. They will play in the East Region. On their same side of the bracket, the overall #3 seed, Washington Huskies, also 12-1, champions of the PAC-12. They'll be in the West Region. The final #1 seed back on the left side of the bracket are the Ohio State Buckeyes, 11-1 overall, but did not win their division. They will play in the Mountain Region.

And now the seedings and pairings, starting with the top left in the Central Region. The final 4 teams will advance to New Orleans

#4 Louisville vs. #13 Colorado State

#3 Florida State vs. #14 Troy
#6 Washington State vs. #11 Air Force

Some notes:
There is a potential 2nd round re-match between Wisconsin and Minnesota, but with Iowa being a 7 seed, I couldn't put them there, and Wisconsin and Michigan are also 2 seeds which sets up more potential rematches since Minnesota played them all so it was unavoidable.

Since Mississippi is in the play-in game, I moved them to the overall 2 seed Clemson's spot to avoid a potential Mississippi-Alabama re-match.

There are various potential conferences games in round 2, but they are all teams who did not play: San Diego State-New Mexico would both have to pull upsets to face eachother in round 2. Penn State-Nebraska is a potential 2nd round, LSU-Vanderbilt if Vandy pulls an upset, Kentucky-Arkansas could play if they both pull upsets and then a possible Clemson-Miami 2nd round as well. An 8-16 Texas A&M-Mississippi re-match is humanly possible I guess too.

There should be no potential re-matches before the Elite 8. There's a potential Ohio State-Michigan re-match since they were voted 4 and 5 overall. Houston and Memphis are longshots, but they could re-match in the Sweet 16, though a 7 vs. 11 is unlikely. Air Force-New Mexico 11 vs 15 is even more unlikely in the sweet 16. West Virginia-Baylor a 4 vs. 16 sweet 16 is an even longer shot.

Mississippi and Middle Tennessee tied for 64th, Eastern Michigan was the first team out, missing by 2 points, followed by Notre Dame. In total, 88 teams received votes. 45 teams were unanimous, which I think is a new low after last year's 46. Mississippi is the 7th losing team to make the tournament in its history. Every bowl eligible team got a vote except for 6-6 South Alabama. Appalachian State was unanimously voted in, Arkansas State only received votes from 2 people, so no changes needed to be made there. I'd have done a play-in game between the two of them if voting had been split to where neither made it.

The excel file of the bracket is uploaded into the original post. Those of you who like to fill them out, I will give you a couple extra days. Usually I start this on Thursday, but I'm going to wait to post until Saturday since there are only a handful of people who get theirs done by Thursday. I have to find the official injury report for each team and remove them and transfers etc. Then finalize some roster ratings before we get started.

So the preliminary schedule:
1st round: Saturday the 17th
2nd round: Monday the 19th
Sweet 16: Thursday the 22nd
Elite 8: Monday the 26th
Final Four: Wednesday the 28th
Championship: Friday the 30th

That's a nice lookin' bracket  thanks for organizing this once again, Beaver!

Interestingly (to me) this is the one match-up that I had verbatim in my mock bracket - Michigan I have as the 3rd highest 2-seed, and New Mexico as the 2nd-highest 15-seed. I'm kind of thinking I should have placed the Lobos higher - their last 9 games they had a very solid stretch - but those first 3: yikes. Losses to New Mexico St and Rutgers. Couldn't ignore those.

Who techinically isn't bowl eligible anyway (due to 2 FCS wins.....unless I'm mistaken)

Also, sorry Army, you have to be sacrificed to the all-powerful Tide - we'd have put you higher had we known you would beat Navy. Maybe play them earlier next season :P

My predictions: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Biggest first round upset I have is 12 Kentucky > 5 South Florida - only have them 5 spots apart in my poll. Iowa is my biggest Cinderella team, making the Elite 8.

Love this every year, and while I missed voting I'll make sure to fill out a bracket

Historically, have you noticed venue sites having much of an impact?

No. As long as it's a neutral field, I'm pretty sure weather is the only thing that comes into play. The crowd is always split 50/50
